The We The People Project sets out to reveal our connectedness, our similarity, how little we differ even as we look at age, race, and gender. I have spent 25 years photographing people from all over the world in pursuit of revealing this idea. When we see each other in ourselves we evolve. I have struggled with how to exemplify our closeness to each other and our shared humanity. The WE THE PEOPLE PROJECT illuminates our commonality and our community on this magnificent, round, spinning blue globe.

ONE WORLD PORTRAIT
Photographer Jock McDonald has developed visually stunning videos as works of art. His One World Portrait shows the commonality among all human beings regardless of race or country or origin. His videos for some of America’s favorite brands include Baby Gap, General Mills, Levi’s and Muzak.
The One World Portrait video takes 40 black and white still photographs shot around the world and merges them into one moving portrait of our humanity.
It is my desire to throw visual emotional weight on our shared humanity and create empathy through the use of the concept “eyes are the window to the soul.”
Humans sharing this planet with so many others, often forget all the things we have in common and share with each other. We share the air, water, the land, the need and pleasure of sharing food together, laughter, emotions, love, children, shelter, beauty, work, community. The list of shared experiances is long compared to the differences that separate us. Our difference of skin color, language, money, geography, religion, and gender, creates separation. These are magnified with our tribal ”us and them” mentality, and keep us in our animal mind. The small divides us and our commonality unifies us.

This video was the initial test for the One World Portrait project. It takes two images of Valentina taken in the Ukraine on the same spot of her land morphing from Summer to Winter in the Ukraine.

This public service announcement was created to raise awareness for Whistle Stop Wheels, a senior outreach program.
Over 200 people attended Jock McDonald's M2 gallery opening in Los Angeles, where Jock photographed and morphed 72 people in attendance and immediately morphed them into a moving face of humanity. In this event, the viewer was the art and the audience. The final photographic piece was projected onto the gallery walls.
